How to Paint a GE OEC 9900 Elite C-arm
Prepare the C-arm
- Clean Area: Ensure the Painting area is clean and well-ventilated. A paint both is always nice to have.
- Gather Supplies: You’ll need blue painter’s tape, drop cloths, a degreaser, =electric sander, primer, OEM paint (suitable for metal and medical equipment)
2. Scrubbing the C-arm
- Degrease: Use a degreaser to remove oils, dirt and waste. Yes, I said waste, I know it is gross. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Sand the c-arm: Lightly sand the surfaces to help the paint adhere better. Remove any dust with a damp cloth.
3. Mask Sensitive Areas
- Mask Off c-arm: Use blue painter’s tape to cover any sensitive areas, such as monitors keyboards and all electronic components
4. Add Primer
- Choose Primer: Use a primer suitable for metal and compatible with the final paint.
- Spray/Brush: Apply an even coat and let it dry according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
5. Paint your C-arm
- Select c-arm Paint: Use paint designed for metal surfaces, ideally one that meets medical standards. You can contact the manufacturer to see what paint work best for each c-arm .
- Apply Paint: Use light, even coats. (you already know that) Allow each coat to dry before applying the next. This may take multiple coats for full coverage.
6. Add texture
- add texture: If desired, add texture for extra durability. Ensure it’s compatible with your paint.
7. Time to clean up!
- Carefully Remove Tape: Once everything is dry and looking pretty, slowly peel off the blue tape.
- Clean Up: throw away of any used materials safely and clean your workspace.
8. Allow to Finish
- Final Cure: Let the paint cure completely before using the C-arm again, as per the paint manufacturer’s guidelines. Your c-arm should look brand new!
